More Brits turning to internet to plan holidays

Brits are increasingly turning to the internet to plan their holidays, according to a new study.

A poll by holiday website travelsupermarket.com has revealed that two-thirds of Brits will book their holiday online this year.

In addition, just over half will research possible travel destinations on the internet; perhaps looking for suitable hotels, fun attractions or cheap car hire.

Reacting to his company's figures, Travel Supermarket spokesman Bob Atkinson claimed not to be surprised that more tourists were heading online to research their trips away.

He told Mail Online: "With travel companies offering a huge array of deals to secure bookings, research is essential for holidaymakers to make sure they get what they want from their holiday and also pay the best price.

"The switch to online for our holiday planning - whether to research or book - has been one of the most noticeable changes in travel over the last few years and appears to be continuing. The internet makes researching our holiday so much easier."

96 per cent of Brits will take a vacation this year, Travelweekly.co.uk revealed; suggesting that approximately 39.2 million will likely use the internet to book their trip.

Spain is reportedly the most popular destination for Brits so far this year, followed by Italy and Portugal.
