Prague retains many of its ancient features and architecture partly because it escaped undamaged from mortar shells in the Second World War. In 1992 the entire historical centre of Prague, all 866 hectares, was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Most of the city’s main attractions are located within the centre in five separate districts connected by the beautiful Charles Bridge.
